The Movement

Cove: The Women’s Health Initiative is a student-led project committed to expanding education and advocacy regarding all forms of women’s health, hygiene, and wellness. Women’s health should never be a whispered topic- it's our mission to empower young women and communities through understanding, discussion, and change.

Just to buy one pack of ‘average’ pads and tampons, it will cost 22$ for a month in order to have enough. Do you think that young girls, often who do not have jobs yet, can afford that? Wouldn’t it be hard to pay around 270$ a year, or to ask your parents to- especially if your family can't afford it?
It's our mission to lessen the burden that is forced on young women, and make resources more readily available. We strive to make changes in public space, legislature, and awareness. Supporting Cove means that you are helping young women in our community feel enlightened, understood, and cared for. What are you waiting for?

Why Support Our Mission?
What is the first reaction you have to thinking about women’s menstrual products? It's our guess that it isn't joy, or even empathy. Most often, the feelings that pop up relate to feeling uncomfortable and avoidance of the topic. Why is that, and furthermore, is it fair?
Well, there is a strong stigma revolving around women's health and hygiene, and no, it's not fair. The ideas around periods, hygiene, and ‘growing up’ are confusing and often leave young girls unprepared, and easily causing shame. Many young girls dont have the resources to be comfortable on their periods, nor the knowledge to properly navigate the huge changes they will experience with their bodies.
